Zeroth priority:
- comments reverted to last working form
(entered on the page)
*works. However the page where the comment is added refreshes
before the python
script that adds the comment is run
ALPHA
First priority:
- "Publishing doesn't work?" link with common
explanations, look up actual explanation
- forward to index.html
- DONE! Click here to see how
- A - remove the auto-footer from comment form
- DONE! Click here to see how
Then "web-editing basics" - a link on every page going to documentation
including:
- web editing idea (very briefly)
* no scripts permitted
- this happens by default
- nothing uploaded through WebDAV, as far as I can tell, is executable
- so anything you upload is going to be text/html
- note this is a beta
- note can either add comments or edit with
mozilla/composer
- style/content/refactoring guide
- where to find mozilla
*
http://www.mozilla.org/products/mozilla1.x/
- hints on using mozilla
- how to edit (call up composer on) a viewed
(browsed) file (use "Edit Page", cmd-E)
- how to save after changes
- P -first_time_user settings for
publishing to the 'rlai' website
- use "publish", or cmd-shift-S
- always publish, close composer
window, and refresh browser window
- even when you will call up composer
again to continue editing
- what to do if you forget to close, refresh, and
reopen
(publishing will fail)
- save to local file (cmd-S), then
close, refresh browser window and
reopen for editing
- merge in content from the local file
(also viewed in mozilla)
- publishing settings
- what to do when your edit is not accepted (try
"Publishing doesn't work?")
- what to do when your edit is not accepted because
of an intervening edit
- much as in "forget to close, refresh,
and reopen" above
- how to include images
- how to upload other files
- hints on using composer
- note "paste without formatting"
- this page (basics) should be short (<1 screen),
using links to much of the above
- could be in the form of a FAQ?
<>To do : add subdirectories automatically when a new page is published
- DONE
Require (or add) .html in files
- DEBATING whether this is necessary
- if you don't require the
html, anything without a valid extension is displayed as text
- note that you can create
files this way (check out project without the .html for an example)
- also notice the
weirdness that ensues when you go to an existing page, but drop the
extension. At least, I think it's weird.
--P what could be the possible reasons that we
would not want it :
* confusing?
* no comments possible
BETA
Convert to python
Allow expired updates if updating self page
Merging comments
Archiving.
Private and partially private pages.
POST-BETA
- A - prevent certain pages from being edited (need
to be done editing them ourselves, or have partially private pages,
before we lock ourselves out)
-P-What else?
- leave the main page for directions as to what each
page is about or some way of informing others about your page??
( something more managable would also be fine)
If we have a link to FAQs at the bottom of the page, it might be more consistent if we have it pop up in a new window (since both the others do).
